We are currently seeking a motivated Production Manager to lead our Food Safety Department on third shift.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing sanitation expertise to the entire facility through developing, managing, and continuously improving a comprehensive sanitation program that encompasses associate safety, equipment, infrastructure, and people development.
- Leads sanitation team to continuously enhance sanitation safety programs, chemical awareness, proper PPE, proper strengths, temperatures, and times for chemicals used in plant as well as enhancing sanitation programs.
- Primarily 3rd shift, but must be flexible to work other shifts.
- Develops and maintains a professional attitude at all times.
- Understands all environmental, safety, and hazard (HAZCOM) aspects of position and follows standard procedures.
- Supervises equipment prep setup to ensure all actions are taken to achieve effective start-ups on a timely basis.
- Conducts team meetings and offers technicians the opportunity to express themselves on pertinent problems relating to their positions.
- Develops a sanitation talent pipeline.
- Directs sanitation personnel in sanitation procedures, safety, and good manufacturing practices (GMPs) as well as timely and proper execution of assignments.
- Develops training materials and train personnel on corporate food safety programs.
- Conducts HACCP, GMP, and chemical, sanitation training for all production and sanitation associates as well as new associates.
- Promotes safety through work procedures, orderly work environments, and associate programs.
- Ensures that all materials supplies and equipment are ready for use at the prescribed times in order for department personnel to perform their assignments.
- Ensures all paperwork (checklists) and good cleaning practices are being performed alertly and satisfactorily by technicians.
- Manages plant-wide sanitation and pest control programs and work with external chemical, pest control, etc. vendors to improve sanitation effectiveness.
- Develops relationship with Regulatory Inspectors.
- Regularly performs verification audits to ensure programs are working effectively.
- Develops and maintains the plant Cleaning-In-Place (CIP) Systems Control Manual which includes updating PIN charts, CIP drawings, and procedures with each CIP system or chemical change as well as conduct bi-annual audits of CIP circuits.
- Maintains documentation for regulatory compliance.
- Utilizes proper disposal of empty chemical containers.
- Maintains controls for sanitation chemicals including cost, utilization, testing, inventories, and proper labeling of containers.
- Performs pre-operation inspections to determine effectiveness of cleaning.
- Follows proper Lock Out, Tag Out policy and procedures.
- Reports and follows up to ensure that safety items are resolved within the chemical room.
- 2 plus years’ experience in plant quality/sanitation systems in a USDA facility preferred
- Experience with HACCP, GMP’s, and regulatory inspections.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Quality Management and Statistical Process Control.
- Proven expertise in cleaning chemistry and sanitary design.
- Four-year degree preferred in food science or related field
